The First-Timer’s Guide to Manhattan: A 3-Day Walking Itinerary

New York City is best explored on foot. To truly feel the energy of the “City That Never Sleeps,” you need a plan that balances the tourist icons with local secrets.

  • Day 1: Midtown Magic – Start at Grand Central Terminal for breakfast, then walk to the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. End your evening under the neon lights of Times Square, but grab dinner in Hell’s Kitchen for better food and lower prices.
  • Day 2: High Line to Greenwich Village – Walk the High Line, an elevated park built on a historic freight rail line. It leads you right into Chelsea Market. Spend your afternoon getting lost in the winding, tree-lined streets of Greenwich Village.
  • Day 3: History & Views – Take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty early in the morning. For sunset, skip the Empire State Building lines and head to “Top of the Rock” at Rockefeller Center for the best view of the skyline (including the Empire State Building itself!).
